Ryn was on staff of The Eastern New Mexico News before it changed its name. She was a reporter for the Clovis News Journal and managing editor of the Quay County Sun. She continued her award-winning column in the paper for some time even after she moved out of state and also had a guest column published more than a decade later (thank you, Editor-in-Chief David Stevens!).
